BALIK-ISLAM IS MORO
The great planners are those who mastered the history, they used the history as their guide to light their way towards greatness. Our plan is totally focused on the future because we are going to spend the rest of our lives there. Our future as genuine believers of only one God is to spread and plant the blessings of God into the deepest part of the heart of every Muslim and to none Muslim. I am convinced and determined that our children shall be brought up in bearing to their hearts their father's religion, if they can find out what it is and who are they.
Islamic civilization has been one of humanities magnificent and grandiose achievements, a spiritual revolution that would enlighten four continents of the world, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. All of the accumulated knowledge of the ancient world fell into the hands of Muslims that is why it was Islam that carried the light of learning through so many centuries, paving the way for Europe's renaissance and enlightenment. It was Muslim scholars who reclaimed the lost ancient wisdom of the Greeks while Europe is in the dark ages. It was the Muslims who developed the order of algebra, the magnetic compass and tools of navigation, the mastery of pens and printing, the understanding of how disease spreads and how it can be healed.
In 711 AD, Abdul Rahman the 1st led his vast Army to spread the teachings of Islam in Spain and in 719 the mighty Muslims have even conquered some portion of France. The Muslims or Ummayad Islamic Empire called their newly found territory as Al-Andalus (THE LAND OF THE VANDALS). The ‘’MOORS’’ occupied for nearly 800 years Al-Andalus, comprising most of what is now Spain and Portugal.
After the disgregation of the Caliphate, Islamic control of Spain was gradually eroded by the Spanish Reconguista. It was not until 1492 that Granada, the last Muslim city, fell to the Catholics at the hands of Queen Isabel of Castile and her husband Ferdinand of Aragon
King Philip the grand son of Queen Isabel and Ferdinand issued an order to find another weak nation to be occupied because at that time Europe was controlled by Ottoman Empire in partnership of Persian Empire. In 1521, Portuguese-born Spanish explorer Ferdinand Magellan arrived in the Philippines and followed by Miguel Lopez de Legaspi in 1565.
Because the people who gave Spain education for almost 800 years worshipped ALLAH, when the Spaniards arrived in the Philippines they called the inhabitands of the Islands as MORO (MOORS). It is certainly desirable to be well descended, but the glory belongs to our ancestors. I am now called as Bangsamoro not because my ancestors were Arabs or African, but for the humble reason that they were Muslims.
There is no king who has not had a slave among his ancestors, and no slave who has not had a king among his forefathers. Our brothers and sisters in Balik Islam called themselves as BALIK ISLAM because they returned to their noble ancestor’s religion. What our great ancestors would really be thinking, if they were alive today, is: ‘’that some of their descendants are not Moro and some are Moro?’’ Therefore, they must also be called or addressed as MORO (BANGSAMORO).
